SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif.- The Washington State's women's golf team finishes a busy February with a trip to California for the Bruin/Wave Invitational, hosted by UCLA. The two-day tournament will run from Monday to Tuesday, Feb 24 – 25 at the San Luis Obispo Country Club. The first 36 holes will be played on Monday, with tee times set at 7:15 a.m. that morning.
THE COURSE – The San Luis Obispo Country Club features a par 72 course with a yardage of 6,103.
THE LINEUP – Representing the Cougars on the course at the Bruin/Wave Invitational will be sophomore
Amy Chu, senior
Marie Lund-Hansen, freshman
Jiye Ham, sophomore
Darcy Habgood, and junior
Emily Baumgart.
THE FIELD – The Cougars will play the first 36 holes on Monday, Feb. 24, and finish the final 18 on Tuesday, Feb. 25. In addition to Washington State, the 12-team tournament will feature No. 2 USC, No. 14 UCLA, and No. 16 Oregon. Furthermore, Pepperdine, Cal Poly, CSUN, Northwestern, Oregon State, San Diego State, San Francisco, and Washington will also be competing.
COACH KAMIMURA ON THE TOURNAMENT – "We are excited to head to the Bruin/Wave Invitational this weekend. We have had a good week of practice and look to build off of what we learned from our first event in San Diego. Our goal is to stay in the moment with every shot and be disciplined about putting our focus on what we can control, what we want, and who we are when we are playing our best.
LAST TIME OUT – The Cougars were last in action on Feb. 10 – 11 at the SDSU Lamkin Invitational Match Play. The Cougars took home a 4th place finish, led by junior
Emily Baumgart and sophomore
Amy Chu, who both won two out of their three head to head matchups over the two-day event.
