PULLMAN, Wash. - With the CONCACAF Women's Under-20 Championship set to begin in the Dominican Republic Saturday the Cougs will have their paw print on the field with future Coug Trinity Rodman (USA) and sophomore
Elaily Hernandez-Repreza (El Salvador) representing throughout the tournament. Group play for the tournament begins Feb. 22 and runs through Feb. 27 with the top three of each group advancing to the knockout stages. The finals is scheduled for March 8 with the pair of finalist earning their spots in the upcoming U-20 World Cup.
Rodman and Team USA were drawn into Group C along with Honduras, Dominican Republic, and Cuba. They begin play Feb. 22 against Cuba before taking on Dominican Republic Feb. 24 and Honduras Feb. 26. Rodman, a 2020 freshman for WSU, has been a staple in the US National Team system most recently playing in the Nike Friendlies against Brazil and France in early December where she picked up a goal and an assist. In addition, Rodman was one of the four youngest players to play for the Americans at the 2018 U17 World Cup.
After playing an integral part for the Cougs in their College Cup run, Hernandez-Repreza has made the trip south to play for El Salvador once again. The second-year Coug and her national team teammates were drawn into Group E matching up with Canada, Jamaica, and Guatemala. Their tournament begins Feb. 22 against Canada before taking on Jamaica Feb. 24 and finishing with Guatemala Feb. 26. Throughout her time with El Salvador, Hernandez-Repreza has been a team captain for the U20 team. She also has experience at the championships having played at the U17 Championships at just 13 years old.
