LUBBOCK, SEATTLE NEXT UP FOR WSU
Washington State track and field will look for a late indoor season push as a handful of student-athletes will compete for the Cougars in both the Matador Qualifier, and in the UW Last Chance Elite. The Matador Qualifier sees WSU return to Lubbock, Texas as nine total entries for the Cougars look to make an impact before the MPSF Indoor Championships next week. The second meet Washington State will be competing in Friday is the UW Last Chance Elite, where the Cougs return to the Dempsey Indoor for the fourth time this season to compete against top ranked squads once again.

DON KIRBY ELITE
Charisma Taylor continued to improve in the triple jump, as she recorded a mark of 44-feet 2 3/4 inches (13.48m), besting her previous PR, and the previous Washington State record, and currently ranks sixth in the nation in the event as well. Kreete Verlin led WSU in the long jump, posting a mark of 20-feet 1/2-inch (6.11m). Verlin also posted a time of 7.44 in the qualifying round of the 60-meter dash, which is tied for the best 60m dash time in WSU women's history with current teammate Jordyn Tucker. Luzia Herzig displayed an impressive showing in the pole vault, as she posted a mark of 13-feet 1 3/4 inches (4.01m), which also ranks seventh all-time in WSU history. Sam Brixey anchored the men's squad with a victory in the 60-meter hurdles, posting a PR of 7.72 for the win. Brixey's time also keeps him within the all-time top ten list in Washington State history at fifth overall. Mitch Jacobson recorded a PR of 7-feet 1-inch (2.16m) in the high jump, placing fourth overall as well. Ja'Maun Charles posted a PR in the long jump as he recorded a mark of 22-feet 6 1/4 inches (6.86m) to take 18th overall. RayRay Wells Jr. went on to claim second overall in the 60-meter dash, as he recorded a time of 6.62 seconds.

HUSKY CLASSIC
Faimalie Sale continued to impress during her freshman campaign with the Cougars, as she shattered the Washington State freshman record in the weight throw with a mark of 59-feet 7 1/2 inches (18.17m). Sale also now ranks fifth all-time in WSU history in the event as well. The men's distance crew led the way for the Cougars at the Husky Classic, as Colton Johnsen ran a PR of 7:57.58 in the 3000-meter event for a 15th place finish. Daylon Hicks recorded the best overall individual finish for Washington State at the meet, placing fourth overall in the high jump with a mark of 6-feet 7-inches (2.01m).

The NCAA uses national descending order lists to determine the competitors for the 2020 Indoor Championships...these lists can be viewed at the United States Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Track & Field Results Reporting System website (www.tfrrs.org)...the top 16 individuals and 12 relays will move on to compete at the NCAA Indoor Championships March 13-14 at Albuquerque, New Mexico (University of New Mexico host)...best marks for the Cougars throughout the 2020 indoor season can be found at www.wsucougars.com.
