PULLMAN, Wash. – Taking on tough conditions at the Coeur d'Alene Resort Golf Course the Washington State women's golf team completed play at the CDA Resort Collegiate Tuesday afternoon, finishing in fourth place overall with a team score of 887. The Cougs top-five finish was bolstered by the play of their senior, Marie Lund-Hansen, who put herself within reach of her first tournament title before settling into a tie for third place overall.

Windy conditions on the lake made for a tough day on the course for all the participants at the two-day event with all 16 teams shooting over-par in the final 18 holes. For the Cougs, they finished at +18 for the scoring lineup to bring their two day total to +35. The host Bulldogs of Gonzaga shook off a +13 day to hold on to the tournament title at +16 overall, beating BYU by four-strokes after the Cougars shot the best rounds of the morning at just three-over par.

Individually, Lund-Hansen led the way despite carding a 74 (+3) in her final round. The fourth-year ace had played even in both rounds on Monday and briefly held the tournament lead early during Tuesday's round before a few misfires dropped her third. Lund-Hansen's penchant for length off the tee and in the fairway was partially neutralized due to the playing conditions as she wasn't able to take advantage of the par-5's throughout the course on day two after dominating the lengthy holes throughout Monday's 36 holes. The third-place finish marked Lund-Hansen's second-straight top-five finish to begin the year after tying for fifth at the Cougar Cup the week prior.

After a tough opening day to her tournament, sophomore Darcy Habgood found her mojo on day two as the second-year Coug came up with the team's best round of the event with a two-under, 69. After a pair of early bogies put her in a two-stroke hole, Habgood caught fire on the 14th, birdieing the short par-3 to begin a stretch of three birdies in four holes. Back in the red, Habgood would add her fourth birdie of the day as she made her way back to the front nine, scoring a birdie-four on the second-longest hole on the course, the 540-yard, par-5, 1st. From there, she would par out her remaining five holes to push her way into the tournament's top-20, finishing in a tie for 15th at +8 overall.

Overall, BYU's Allysha Mae Mateo took the individual title at one-under after posting a 68 (-3) in the final round. Her 68 tied for the tournament low and was one of eight rounds under 70 in the tournament including Habgood's 69 in round three.

The Cougs take a brief hiatus before jumping back on the course Oct. 11-12 at the Stanford Intercollegiate. The tournament will give the Cougars a first-hand look at the site of the 2020 Pac-12 Championships that will be held at the end of the season at Stanford.
