WSU HEADS TO AUSTIN FOR NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS
 >> The Washington State Track and Field program will be sending four student-athletes to compete at the NCAA Outdoor Championships this year at Austin, Texas.
Brock Eager was the first Cougar to punch his ticket to the next round after placing second overall in the hammer throw at the West Prelims.
Peyton Fredrickson, and Mitch Jacboson followed, each locking down a spot at the NCAA Championships in the high jump finishing ninth and 11th respectively. The final qualifier for WSU was
Nick Johnson who placed 11th overall in the 110m hurdles as well.Â
COUGARS AT THE NCAA WEST PRELIMS

Brock Eager punched his ticket to a third NCAA Championships appearance in the hammer throw after he posted the second best overall mark at the NCAA West Preliminaries. Eager recorded a throw of 228-feet 6 inches (69.65m) to qualify and advance to Austin, Texas.
>> The Cougars saw top performances by multiple athletes entered in the high jump event.
Peyton Fredrickson punched his ticket to the NCAA Championships after clearing 7-feet 1 inch (2.16m).
Mitch Jacobson was not far behind as he too earned a bid to the NCAA Championships with a mark of 7-feet 1/4 inch (2.14m) in a jump off to advance.Â
Zorana Grujic ran in the 3000-meter steeplechase as she placed 27th overall with a time of 10:16.19.
Molly Scharmann and
Katelyn Frost represented WSU in the pole vault, finishing in 34th and 36th respectively. Scharmann turned in a mark of 13-feet 4 1/4 inches (4.07m), while Frost vaulted at 12-feet 10 1/4 inches (3.92m).

Nick Johnson punched his ticket to the NCAA Championships in the 110-meter hurdles after posting a time of 13.91 to finished 11th overall.
Sam Brixey, and
Christapherson Grant each competed in the 110m hurdles as well Saturday evening, as Brixey went on to place 20th overall (14.08), and Grant finished 24th (14.41).
Aoife Martin turned in an impressive performance in the women's hammer throw with a mark of 195-feet 2 inches (59.50m). Martin's throw moves her up to second all-time in Washington State history in the event as well.

ROAD TO THE CHAMPIONSHIPS
There are 329 NCAA member institutions that sponsor Division I Women's Track and Field teams and 278 NCAA member institutions that sponsor Division I Men's Track & Field teams and are eligible to compete in the National Championship. All of the Division I programs support over 24,000 Track and Field student-athletes across the country.
For each individual event contested at each of the Preliminary Round sites, the top 48 declared student-athletes will be accepted into the competition. Â For each relay event, the top 24 declared relay teams will be accepted into the competition. Â Combined events (Heptathlon and Decathlon), are not contested at the Preliminary Round sites. For combined events (Heptathlon and Decathlon), the top 24 declared student-athletes in each event based on their position on the national descending-order list will be accepted directly into the Championships.
