Women's Golf Gears up for Pac-12 Championships

The Washington State women's golf team will wrap up their 2018-19 season with the Pac-12 Championships April 15 - 17, at the Palos Verdes Golf Club in Palos Verdes Estates, Calif. The course at the Palos Verdes Golf Club will play at a par-71, with a total of 6,131 yards. The field is stacked as every competing Pac-12 school is ranked, six of which are in the top-25.

THE FIELD
 All Pac-12 schools that sponsor golf are competing in the event, including No.1 USC, No. 7 Arizona, No. 13 UCLA, No. 15 Arizona State, No. 21 Oregon, No. 23 Washington, No. 35 Oregon State, No. 44 California, and No. 58 Colorado.

REPRESENTING WASHINGTON STATE
Taking the green for the Cougars will be junior Marie Lund-Hansen, senior Madison Odiorne, freshmen Amy Chu and Darcy Habgood, and redshirt-sophomore Emily Baumgart.

LAST TIME AT THE PAC-12 CHAMPIONSHIPS
The Cougars finished tied for eighth among seven ranked teams in Seattle. The Cougars carded a three round score of 896(+32). Now senior Madison Odiorne closed out the final day of last year's championship with a 79(+7), bringing her overall score to a 221(+5) for 20th place. Now junior Marie Lund-Hansen recorded her lowest round of the 2018 tournament on the final day, putting together an even-par, 71. Lund-Hansen finished 34th with a 228(+12).

LAST TIME OUT
WSU finished 14th against multiple ranked teams at the Silverado Showdown co-hosted by Colorado and Oregon this past week, carding a 917(+53) through three rounds of play. Leading the way for the Cougars was senior Madison Odiorne who finished in the top-10 with a score of 10-over, 226, putting together six birdies and 36 pars. Junior Marie Lund-Hansen finished the tournament in 34th with a two-over, 74, on the final day.

PREVIOUS PAC-12 CHAMPIONSHIPS
The Cougars finished 11th at the 2017 Pac-12 Championships with an overall score of 935(+71). Then-freshman Marie Lund-Hansen tied for 33rd, carding a 231(+15). Then-sophomore Madison Odiorne carded a two-over, 72, to tie for 51st. At the 2016 Pac-12 Championships, the Cougars finished 11th with an 884(+20).

COACHING STAFF
The team is led by tenth-year head coach Kelli Kamimura, who led the women's golf team to eleven program records, a tournament title, and an individual NCAA berth in the 2017-18 season. WSU alumna Emma Betland is entering her fourth season as an assistant coach. Betland golfed at WSU from 2010-2013.
