WSU fell to Cal in the first round of the Pac-12 Tournament.

LAS VEGAS – Closing out the 2018-19 season in the first round or the Pac-12 Tournament, Washington State (9-21) came up short for the second-straight game against Cal (19-11) as the Bears advanced to day two with a 77-58 win Thursday night at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. In a game that played out in similar fashion to the regular season finale four days prior, the Cougs could not overcome a pair of dry spells on the offensive end of the court that allowed the Bears to pull away for the victory. After a big first quarter that put WSU ahead by three, the Cougs went ice cold from the floor to start the second, missing their first 11 shots from the floor. Cal took advantage of WSU's struggles to take the lead, putting together a 12-1 run. Despite the miscues, the Cougs would only trail by two at the halftime break thanks to a closing run from behind the arc over the final three minutes. After rallying the Cougs to end the half, junior point Chanelle Molina caught fire in the third, scoring 10 of her team-best 24 points in the period. However, Molina could not single-handedly bring WSU back as the Bears pushed their lead to seven. Having expended their energy trying to chase down the Bears in the third, the Cougs ran out of gas in the fourth as Cal opened the quarter on a 13-1 run to put the game away.

Things You Need To Know

The loss to Cal ended the Cougars season as the Bears won for the fifth-straight time over WSU. Cal improved to 3-1 over WSU at the Pac-12 Tournament all-time.
The Cougs fell to 7-18 all-time at the Pac-12 Tournament and 0-8 as the No. 10 seed.
Chanelle Molina's 24 points was her sixth 20-point game of the season. She finished the year with 478 points, 12^th most in a single-season at WSU.
Molina ended the year playing a program record 1,129 minutes, shattering the former record by 100 minutes.
Borislava Hristova finished the game with 10 points and ended her third season with 597 total points, sixth-most in program history. Her 28 double-digit scoring games on the year tied for the fifth most in WSU history.
While Molina set the program record for minutes played, Hristova was hot on her heels ending the year with 1,069 minutes, second most in WSU history.
Alexys Swedlund joined Molina and Hristova in the 1,000 minute club late in the third quarter as the senior finished her final season playing 1,008 minutes. Only five players have eclipsed the 1,000 minute mark in WSU history with Swedlund accomplishing the feat twice.
Swedlund finished her final game with six points on a pair of three-pointers to run her season total to 70. She holds the only 70 three-pointer seasons in program history including her record 75 as a sophomore. She finished her career with a program record 227 three-pointers.
Kristine Anigwe ended the night with her 31^st consecutive double-double after posting 27 points and 16 rebounds. In addition, Anigwe became Cal's all-time blocks leader with 200 career blocks after posting three in the contest.
