T&F Heads to California For Trio of Meets

COUGARS TO GO SPLIT SQUAD IN CALIFORNIA
>> The Washington State Track and Field program gears up for a busy weekend in California, participating in three total events throughout the state. The Cougars will be in action at the Mike Fanelli Track Clasic hosted by San Francisco State, at the Stanford Invitational, and travel to Los Angeles to compete in the UCLA Legends Invitational. 

T&F CLAIMS 13 TOTAL WINS AT SAM ADAMS INVITATIONAL
>> Anchoring the Cougars was junior Molly Scharmann who took first overall in the pole vault event with a mark of 13-feet 5 inches (4.09-meters). Scharmann's vault also set a new event record at the Sam Adams Invite, breaking the previous mark of 4.01-meters in 2014. The women's hammer throw featured multiple top five finishes for the Cougars as Aoife Martin placed second overall with a throw of 172-feet 7 inches (52.61m), and just behind was Stacia Bell in fourth, with a toss of 167-feet (50.91m). Chrisshnay Brown picked up where she left off a week ago, earning victories in both the shot put (50-feet 5 1/2 inches), and the discus (148-feet 4 inches) events. 

>> The WSU men began the Invitational with a strong start in the hammer throw as Brock Eager won the event with a season-best throw of 224-feet 11 inches (68.56-meters), and fellow Cougar Amani Brown finished in second overall with a throw of 199-feet 5 inches (60.79m) as well. Washington State dominated the 4x100 relay race as the team of Emmanuel Wells Jr., Ja'Maun Charles, Ethan Gardner, and Ray Littles went on to set a new meet record at 40.47 seconds. Charles picked up another win for the Cougars in the 100-meter dash with a mark of 10.63 seconds as well.

The NCAA uses national descending order lists to determine the competitors for the 2019 Outdoor Championships...these lists can be viewed at the United States Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Track & Field Results Reporting System website (www.tfrrs.org)...the top 48 in each event advances to the East or West Region Preliminary Rounds...Pac-12 Championship competition is set for May 4-12 , and the West Region Prelims are May 23-25, in Sacramento...WSU's 2019 outdoor season bests marks can be found at www.wsucougars.com.
