Cougars Hit Multiple Lifetime-Bests at Day Two of Pac-12 Championships

FEDERAL WAY, Wash – The Washington State swim team completed day two of the 2019 Pac-12 Swimming Championships, with four lifetime-bests.

Sophomore Chloe Larson hit a lifetime best in the 50 free during the preliminary round, clocking the seventh fastest time in program history at 23.17. Larson then turned around and clocked a 23.01 in the event during a swim-off, to move her up to fifth all-time. The Rapid City, S.D. native also swam the opening leg of the 200 free relay. Alongside teammates Emily Barrier, Keiana Fountaine, and Kelly Morgan, the team clocked a season-best 1:32.93.

Junior Ryan Falk also hit lifetime-bests in the 500 free. Falk, a Portland, Ore. Native clocked a 4:49.71 in the preliminary round of the event – fourth fastest in program history. Her time allotted her a spot in the first heat of the finals, where she swam a 4:49.92.

Sophomore Lauren Burckel and sophomore Mackenzie Duarte also hit lifetime-bests in the 200 IM. Burckel nearly etched her name in the WSU Top-10 list, clocking a 2:04.28 in the preliminary round, while Duarte went for a 2:04.35.

The Cougars will start day three of the Pac-12 Championships Friday. Preliminary rounds of the 400 IM, 100 fly, 200 free, 100 breast, and 100 back begin at 10:30 a.m.; finals for those events and the 400 medley relay begin at 6 p.m.
