ST. THOMAS, USVI – The Washington State University women's basketball team takes its 4-0 record down to the Caribbean this week to challenge some of the top programs in the nation at the 2019 Paradise Jam Tournament in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands. The Cougars open play against the defending National Champion and second-ranked Baylor Bears on Thursday, Nov. 28, followed up with a Friday tilt against No. 5/6 South Carolina and a Saturday afternoon contest against No. 17/23 Indiana.

THE TOURNAMENT
The 2019 Paradise Jam features one of the strongest holiday tournaments in the country, as the eight participating teams come to the Virgin Islands with a combined 37-0 record. The field features five teams ranked inside both of the Top 25 Polls, including No. 1/1 Oregon, No. 2/2 Baylor, No. 5/6 South Carolina and No. 8/9 Louisville.
LAST TIME OUT
The Cougars improved to 4-0 on the 2019-20 season with a 71-61 victory over CSUN at Beasley Coliseum on Sunday, Nov. 24. Senior Chanelle Molina lifted Washington State to the come-from-behind victory by scoring 11 of her season-high 21 points in the fourth quarter. The point guard flittered with a triple-double, as she added nine rebounds and seven assists to her ledger.
CLOSING IN ON 1,000 POINTS
Senior Chanelle Molina is on pace to eclipse the 1,000-point mark this week in the Virgin Islands. The point guard is 36 points away from becoming the 20th player in WSU history to score over 1,000 points in their career.
LENDING A HAND
Scoring isn't the only thing senor Chanelle Molina brings to the table, as she recently moved into 10th-place on the WSU all-time assists list with 320, surpassing Penny Bowden's (1986-88) career mark of 307 helpers. She is 128 assists away from Darla Williamson's (1988-92) Washington State record of 448.
BOBI BUCKETS CHASING HISTORY
Senior Borislava Hristova has gotten her 2019-20 season off to a fantastic start, as the 2020 Cheryl Miller Award watch list recipient leads the Pac-12 in scoring at 23.0 points per contest. #BobiBuckets has opened the season with four-straight performances of 21-or-more points, bringing her career point total to 1,791. She needs just 176 points to break Jeanne Eggart's (1977-82) program record of 1,967 points.
COUGS POLLING HIGH IN THE RPI
Washington State enters the Paradise Island Jam with the highest RPI according to RealTimeRPI.com. The website currently has the Cougs with the No. 7-ranking in the RPI, and they've already collected a win against a top-10 team in the RPI, as Washington State knocked off BYU, 67-50, who is ranked No. 6 in the rankings.
SCOUTING THE BEARS
The defending national champions bring an undefeated 5-0 mark to the Virgin Islands, and are coming off a 90-28 victory over Lamar on Nov. 21. The Bears have also collected a 58-46 victory over No. 22/23 South Florida back on Nov. 19.
Baylor features a balanced scoring attack, as they have five player averaging double figures in the scoring ledger, led by NaLyssa Smith's 17.6 points per game. As a team, the Bears are averaging 95.4 points per game, while holding their opposition to 38.2 points a contest. Baylor has hit a blistering 56.7% from the floor, while limiting opponents to a 22.4% success rate from the floor.
SCOUTING THE GAMECOCKS
No. 5/6 South Carolina will be the second top-10 team the Cougars face in as many days in the Virgin Islands. The Gamecocks stand at 6-0 on the season, and have already posted win over a top-five opponent with a 63-54 win at then-No. 4 Maryland.
Te'a Cooper brings a team-high 11.9 points per game to the table to lead a quartet of double-digit scores for South Carolina. The Gamecocks are shooting 43.4% from the field and 75.3 points per game as a team. Conversely, teams are averaging 66.8 points a contest on a 39.6% field goal percentage.
SCOUTING THE HOOSIERS
Indiana will be the final Top-25 opponent the Cougars will face at the Paradise Jam, as the Hoosiers enter the week at No. 17 in the AP Poll and No. 23 in the Coaches Poll. On the Year, IU is 4-0 and is coming off a 73-49 win at Florida.
As a team, Indiana averages 87.5 points per contest, while shooting 51.5% from the floor. Grace Berger paces the Hoosiers with a 17.5 points per game average. Defensively, IU is holding the opposition to 30.3% from the floor, as teams are averaging just 49.8 points a contest against them.
