SAN FRANCISCO – For the fourth-straight season, star forward Morgan Weaver earned a spot on the Pac-12 All-Conference team as she led a group of five Cougars on the postseason award list announced by the conference office Wednesday afternoon. Weaver took home second team honors for her play on the field while seniors Averie Collins and Ella Dederick along with junior Brianna Alger each took home third team awards. Freshman MacKenzie Frimpong-Ellertson impressed in her first season on the pitch to earn all-freshman honors.

In her final season on the Palouse, Weaver led the Cougars' offensive attack for the fourth-straight season scoring a team-best 11 goals while adding four assists. The 11 goals marked the second-straight season the Cougar forward hit double-digits in the score column after posting 13 goals a season prior. Weaver did the bulk of her damage at the end of the regular season when she scored six goals in a single weekend, capping off the regular home schedule by dismantling Utah and Colorado almost single-handedly. On her senior day, Weaver tied a 27-year old program record netting four goals in just 45 minutes of action against Colorado. For her efforts on the weekend, Weaver earned her Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week honors. Her 15 goals/assists accounted for nearly 42% of the Cougars' scoring on the year.

Making the most of her first and only year at WSU, Collins made an immediate impact on her new team as the fifth-year grad transfer finished the regular season tied for second with 14 points after scoring five goals while tallying four assists. She would make the most of her scoring strikes notching a pair of game-winners including an impressive overtime goal at Gonzaga in non-conference play, grabbing the win for the Cougs just :09 seconds into the extra period. For her efforts, Collins would earn Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week, her second career weekly honor in the Pac-12, but first as a Cougar. The postseason award marked the first of her career on the field having earned all-academic honors in 2016 while at Stanford.

Playing her final games in the Crimson and Gray, Dederick earned her second-career third team award after finishing the regular season with 12 wins and 6.5 shutouts in goal for the Cougs. The sixth-year senior made the most of her time on the field as she became the Cougars' winningest 'keeper in program history during the year, passing the previous record of 44 wins to ultimately end the regular season with 49 career victories. In addition, Dederick moved to the top of the record book in minutes played (7702:52) while moving to No. 2 in shutouts (26) and No. 4 in saves (288). During the season Dederick would make a season-best nine saves at Stanford while shutting out Cal three days later in what would be WSU's biggest win of the year.

Playing along the Cougars' backline for the first time in her career, Alger proved herself among the best defenders in the league in her first season at left-back earning her first career postseason award. With Alger anchoring the defense, the Cougars would come up with seven shutouts on the year while allowing one-goal or fewer in 14 contest. In addition to her defensive prowess, Alger was the Cougars' most dangerous weapons on set pieces as she setup a team-best nine goals on the year. Her nine assists marked a career effort for the junior while ranking third all-time in WSU single season history. Nationally, Alger finished the regular season ranked No. 36 while ranking fourth among all Pac-12 players and first among defenders. She would earn a pair of Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week awards for her play on the field tied for the second most defensive awards on the year.

Following in the footsteps of fellow top newcomers, Frimpong-Ellertson earned the seventh-straight all-freshman team award for the Cougars joining Dederick, Weaver, Elyse Bennett and most recently Mykiaa Minniss as top WSU players to take home the award. Making the jump from the high school field to the college field, Frimpong-Ellertson stepped up to the challenge as the first-year Coug scored three goals and tallied one assist in her inaugural campaign. She would score her first collegiate goal in her second career game while adding a second goal two days later. Her first Pac-12 goal would come on the road at UCLA, volleying home a rebound to put the Cougars ahead early against the Bruins. Overall, she would play in all 19 games in her first season while earning 11 starts.

With the postseason about to begin, the Cougs look to make a deep push in the NCAA Tournament beginning Friday, Nov. 15 at home at Lower Soccer field where WSU will host Memphis. The game is scheduled for 5 p.m.
