OPENING XI
> Washington State came away with a split on their road trip to the Bay Area and enter the week tied for second place in the conference after two weeks of play.
> The 1-0 overtime win at #20 Cal was the first win over a ranked opponent on the year and the second-straight win over the Golden Bears.
> WSU is now 6-1 in one-goal games including winning both of their overtime contests. Last season the Cougs were 4-3 in one-goal matches while going 7-6 in 2017.
> WSU takes on a tough Arizona squad who split its games against UCLA (W, 3-0) and USC (L, 2-1) last week at home. All-time WSU is 15-8-1 against the Wildcats but have dropped the last five meetings between the two sides. Coach Shulenberger is looking for his first victory against the Wildcats all-time
> The Cougars enter the week ranked #15 United Soccer Coaches Poll, falling just one spot from the previous week. In the other major polls WSU sits at #11 by TopDrawerSoccer.com and #24 in SoccerAmerica.
> Ella Dederick moved to #3 all-time in career saves over the weekend with 265. She is already the all-time leader in wins now with 46 career victories.
> 10 different Cougars have scored on the year with Morgan Weaver and Averie Collins leading the way with five goals each. Seven different Cougs have scored game-winners with Collins and Makamae Gomera-Stevens tied at two. Both of Gomera-Stevens winners have come in Pac-12 play.
> WSU is ranked #26 in the nation in scoring of offense at 2.36 goals per game (26 total).
> Morgan Weaver, named to the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List to start the year, is tied for third all-time in program history in scoring with 33 goals and fifth in points with 74.
> Brianna Alger is #32 in the nation in assists per game at 0.55 (6 total) and tied for #3 in the Pac-12. WSU is #11 overall in assists per contest at 2.45 (27 total).
> In 2019 the Cougars are 4-1-0 and hold a 17-7 scoring advantage. Last season WSU won a record 10 times at home. All-time, WSU is 155-78-24 at home.

LAST TIME OUT
The Cougs came away with three points on their road trip to the Bay Area, falling at #2 Stanford before rebounding with a 1-0, overtime, win at #20 Cal. The three-points put WSU in a tie for second in the Pac-12 after two weeks. At Cal, the Cougs struggled early before finding their footing in the second half. Makamae Gomera-Stevens needed just 1:11 into the extra period to get the Cougs the win, scoring her second game-winner of Pac-12 play.

TAKING ON THE BEST
The Cougs play their third-straight contest against the top-25 with #25 Arizona coming to town Thursday. On the year, WSU is 1-1 in such contests with a loss at #2 Stanford and a win at #20 Cal.
In the latest poll, four of the Cougs' 2019 opponents are ranked in the top-25 with a pair in the top-4. Five other teams are receiving votes just outside of the top-25.

KEEPING IT CLOSE
Tight games show off a team's ability to persevere and the 2019 Cougs have proven their mettle as WSU enters the week an impressive 6-1 in one-goal games including 2-0 in overtime contests. WSU has won five-straight one-goal contests after suffering their lone loss in a 2-1 decision to Michigan in non-conference play.
Last season the Cougs were 4-3 in one-goal matches while going 7-6 in 2017.
