LAST TIME OUT
Despite controlling play for most of the night, the Cougs fell victim to some bad luck and timely defense by Arizona as the Wildcats came to Lower Soccer Field and stole a 1-0 win over the Thursday night. Throughout the contest the Cougars peppered the Wildcats' goal only to be turned away time and time again by Arizona's goalkeeper, Hope Hinsley and her backline. Even when the Cougs beat the young keeper they were not rewarded with a goal as three different times WSU saw its potential strike cleared off the line by Arizona's last defender. The Wildcats would sneak the game-winner in in the 81' off a corner.

EXORCISZING THE DEMONS
The Cougs will look to exorcise the demons of the last season when they take on Arizona State Sunday. Last year the Cougs had a nightmare game in Tempe that saw three-starters injured including a pair of ACL injuries that ended the seasons of Elyse Bennett and Aaqila McLyn. In addition to last year, the Cougs look to exorcise the demons of games against the Sun Devils in Pullman as Arizona State has dominated the series on the Palouse winning eight of 10 as the road team.

AN RPI GAME
Playing in the ultra-tough Pac-12 has its advantages as the Cougars enter the week ranked #14 in the RPI. Last season the Cougs were ranked #38 at the end of the year when WSU earned a home game in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
WSU is the third-highest ranked team in the Pac-12 trailing only #1 Stanford and #5 USC. The conference has nine teams inside the top-45 and six inside the top-30.
