Women's Golf Prepares for Spring Season

PULLMAN, Wash. – The Washington State women's golf team is getting ready to begin the second half of their 2018-19 season. The Cougars saw some success from their young team this fall – including an average score of 297.60, fourth best all-time in program history.

The team low-round of the fall came at the Ron Moore Women's Intercollegiate hosted by Denver University. The Cougars placed sixth at the tournament, carding a two-under, 286. Freshman Amy Chu and junior Marie Lund-Hansen placed in the top-15 at the tournament. Chu tied for ninth, while Lund-Hansen tied for 13th.

Junior Marie Lund-Hansen's current individual scoring average of 73.07 is second in program history. Lund-Hansen completed the fall season with two top-15 and four top-25 finishes out of five tournaments. Freshman Amy Chu saw success during the fall season, as she had two top-15 finishes including her ninth-place finish at the Ron Moore Women's Invitational in early October. Senior Madison Odiorne finished the fall season with an average score of 74.40 – a career best.

The Cougars added Darcy Habgood for the second portion of the season. Habgood joins the Cougars from Nambucca Heads, Australia after competing for the Queensland Schools' Girls golf team from 2014-16. While competing, Habgood was an Invincible Junior Masters Champion and Queensland Junior Girls Amateur runner up. In 2017, Habgood was runner up at the Greg Norman Junior Masters and Queensland Junior Girls Amateur Champion tournaments. Habgood placed third at the 2018 AGC Ladies Medal and was a 2018 New South Wales semi-finalist. As a member of Stursura's College team, Habgood was named the 2017 Senior Sports Star of the Future.

The Cougars begin their spring season Feb. 24 - 25 in Peoria, Ariz. at the Westbrook Invitational. In March, the team will head to Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii for the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational Mar. 12 - 15, before heading to Fairfax, Calif. Mar. 18 - 19 for the Meadow Club Invitational. The Cougars' final regular season tournament will take place Apr. 7 - 9 in Silicon Valley, Calif. to compete in the Silverado Showdown.

The 2019 Pac-12 Championships will be held in Palos Verdas Estates, Calif. Apr. 15 - 17.
