PULLMAN, Wash. – The No. 9 Washington State soccer team (10-0-0, 3-0-0) remained the only perfect team in the nation after defeating Oregon State (1-10-0, 0-3-0) Sunday at Lower Soccer Field, 2-0. The Cougars dominated the offensive game, finishing with 34 shots and eight corner kicks. Senior Maegan O'Neill came up with the first goal of the game and her fourth goal of the season after Elyse Bennett's shot ricocheted off her defender in the 20'. Taking the rebound, O'Neill struck a low bending left footed strike that skimmed off the grass and just over the outstretched Beavers' keeper to give the Cougars their first goal of the game. The Cougars continued to push the attack, completing the first half with 18 shots. A Beaver foul and redcard at the top of the box half-way through the second half setup the insurance goal for the Cougars after Bennett broke free behind the defense only to be taken down by Oregon State's keeper. With the ball center frame and the wall mid-penalty box, senior Maddy Haro struck a perfect bending shot just under the bar and just over the fingertips of the new keeper. On the defensive side, Rachel Thompson and the Cougars' backline stifled the Beavers' offense, giving up just five total shots with only one on goal.

WSU's 34 shots were the sixth most in program history and the most since taking 35 against University of the Pacific in 1993.

Things You Need To Know

The Cougs' remain the only unbeaten and untied team in Division I soccer after improving their record start to the season with their 10th-straight win.
The 10-consecutive wins for WSU ties a program record for consecutive wins, set between the end of the 1990 season and the beginning of the 1991 season. (Oct.14, 1990 to Sept. 11, 1991).
The 10th win of the year matched WSU's win total from 2017.
The shutout was WSU's fifth of the season.
Maddy Haro the nation's leader in assists per game, picked up her first goal of the season and seventh career goal.
Maegan O'Neill scored her second goal of the weekend and fourth of the season. It was her first career goal not assisted by Haro in seven goals.
Rachel Thompson improved to 5-0-0 on the year and picked up her second shutout in Pac-12 play.
The Cougs hit the road to take on No. 18, and unbeaten, Colorado, Thursday, Oct. 4 in Boulder, Colo. The game is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. PT.
