BOULDER, Colo. – For the first time in 2018 the No. 7 Washington State soccer team found itself on the wrong side of the scoreboard as the Cougars (10-1-0, 3-1-0) fell 3-1 to No. 20 Colorado (10-0-3, 2-0-2) Thursday on the road. Throughout the game, the Cougars luck ran dry as a 25-15 shot advantage resulted in just one goal as WSU found the woodwork three times throughout the game, even having a ball appear to cross the goal line midway through the first half only to have the goal denied. For WSU, the game was all about playing catchup as Colorado got on the board in just the second minute of play, converting their first header of the afternoon off a corner kick to start the scoring. They would add a second goal 10 minutes later when the Cougars' usually staunch defense could not corral a ball in the box, giving up an open look to fall behind by two goals. After halftime, the Cougs appeared as if they may be able to mount the comeback as WSU took control of the game, dominating the offensive third. In the 58', junior Morgan Weaver would cut the deficit in half, running down a long ball by senior Maddy Haro, beating the Buff defender by a step before striking one off the far post and in. She would just miss the equalizer moments later on a header as the attack pressed forward. The one goal would be as close as WSU would get thanks to a late goal in the 82' by Colorado that sealed the upset as again the Buffs took advantage of defensive uncertainty by the Cougs to get another open look.

The Cougs' loss snapped a program record 10 match win-streak. WSU was the last perfect team in Division I in 2018.
Colorado has won the last three games against the Cougars.
Maddy Haro picked up her Pac-12 best 10th assist of the season, second most in the nation and one off the WSU all-time single season record. Her 17th career assists moves her into a tie for third all-time, six short of the all-time record.
Morgan Weaver scored her second goal in Pac-12 play and seventh of the season. It was her 22nd career goal moving her into sole possession of 6th all-time in WSU history.
The Cougs look to rebound Sunday, Oct. 7 at Utah. The 11 a.m. PT contest is slated to be shown on the Pac-12 Networks.
