TUCSON, Ariz. – Washington State tennis recorded two program firsts as it rebounded from Friday's match to post a 4-1 victory over Arizona Saturday afternoon at the LaNelle Robson Tennis Center. The Cougars victory was their 20th of the year, the first time in program history a Cougar team has recorded 20 victories. The win also marked the first time WSU has defeated Arizona in Tucson. For the 20th time in 23 matches this season, WSU captured the opening doubles point as Barbora Michalkova and Melisa Ates at No. 1 and Michaela Bayerlova and Aneta Miksovska at No. 3 posted convincing victories. In singles play the Cougars captured straight-set wins by Guzal Yusupova at No. 2, Tiffany Mylonas at No. 3 and Ates at No. 6 to clinch the match. WSU is next in action Friday when it hosts No. 23 Stanford at the WSU Outdoor Tennis Courts at 1:30 p.m.
