Cougars Conclude Dual Season at Washington

THIS WEEK: Washington State tennis finishes off the 2017-18 season against rival Washington, Saturday April 21 at Noon at the Bill Quillian Tennis Stadium. In the event of rain the match will take place indoors at the Nordstrom Tennis Center. The Cougars, currently No. 40, enter the match with a 20-5 record and 5-4 in Pac-12 play. Washington No. 49, enters the rivalry match with a 14-10 record this season, 4-5 in Pac-12 play. 
  
UP NEXT: The Cougars will compete in the 2018 Pac-12 Tennis Championship beginning Wednesday April 25 in Ojai, Calif. The Championships will continue through Saturday April 28.
  
LAST WEEK: The Cougars lost two matches last week in Pullman, falling to No. 22 Stanford and No. 45 California. With these matches the Cougars fell to 20-5 this season and 5-4 in Pac-12 play. 
 
20-WIN SEASON: With the win at Arizona April 7, Cougar Tennis reached the 20-win plateau for the first time in program history, besting the previous mark of 19 set during the 1994 and 2012 seasons.
 
WSU CONTINUES PRESENCE IN ITA TEAM RANKINGS: Washington State University moved to No. 40 in the most recent ITA team rankings, released Tuesday, after reaching a season-best 31 on the March 27 release. The Cougars have been ranked in each of the last seven ITA polls, since the March 6 ranking.
 
BAYERLOVA RANKED 26 IN ITA NATIONAL SINGLES: Following the most recent ITA singles rankings, freshmen Michaela Bayerlova moved up to a season-best No. 26, 4 spots ahead of her previous ranking at No. 30. Bayerlova was No. 54 in the first 2018 ITA National Singles rankings and has been ranked in each poll since.
 
YUSUPOVA/MYLONAS IN DOUBLES RANKINGS: Sophomore Guzal Yusupova and junior Tiffany Mylonas maintain ITA Doubles rankings for their second week, now ranked at No. 79. The duo have posted an 19-2 mark this season, all coming in dual matches while playing No. 2. They are also 5-2 in Pac-12 play.
   
COACH HARTLisa Hart is in her 15th season as the head coach at Washington State. Hart has accumulated 201 wins over her tenure, the most victories in school history. In 2012, the Cougars went 19-7 as Hart was awarded the Pac-12 Conference Women's Tennis Coach of the Year award.
