SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Washington State closed the season with a 28-26 win over Iowa State in the Valero Alamo Bowl. Check out the postgame notes along with some of the top social media posts during the game.

•       WSU won the toss and elected to receive
•       Kyle Sweet and Peyton Pelluer were game captains for the 13th straight game
•       Attendance: 60,675 (Largest between two out-of-state teams since 2005)
 
TEAM NOTES
•       WSU recorded its first 11-win season in program history
•       WSU improved to 8-7 in bowl games, 2-0 in the Alamo Bowl
•       Mike Leach improved to 133-83 all-time as a HC (7-7 in bowl games); 49-40 all-time at WSU
•       WSU finished the season undefeated (8-0) when scoring first
 
PLAYER NOTES
•       Robert Valencia made his first career start, started at right guard
•       Gardner Minshew II threw for 299 yards, setting Pac-12 and WSU single-season records for pass yards with 4,779
•       Minshew II finished his career No. 10 on the WSU career passing yards list
•       Minshew threw 2 TD passes, tying Luke Falk for the WSU single-season record with 38 TD passes (2015, 2016)
•       Minshew II's 662 pass attempts were 2nd-most in WSU single-season history, and his 468 completions were WSU and Pac-12 single-season records
•       James Williams caught 7 passes, upping season total to 83, setting Pac-12 single-season record for catches by a RB (Brad Muster, Stanford, 78, 1985)
•       Williams now has 202 career receptions; tied for 1st in career catches by a running back (Jamal Morrow - 202) and now tied for 3rd in all-time career receptions (Jamal Morrow)
•       Max Borghi scored a 10-yard rushing TD, his 12th total TD of the season, tying Deon Burnett (1999) for the most total TD by a freshman Cougar in single-season history
•       Renard Bell caught his 5th TD pass of the season
•       Dezmon Patmon caught his 5th TD pass of the season
•       Peyton Pelluer appeared in his WSU-record 54th career game, added a sack, forced fumble, fumble recovery
•       Pelluer made 11 tackles, finished his career with 352 career tackles, 5th-most in WSU history, 6th double-digit tackle effort of the season and 14th of his career
•       Pelluer made 1.5 tackles-for-loss, finished his career with 35 career tackles-for-loss, 8th most in WSU history
•       Jalen Thompson recorded his 2nd INT of the season, finished with five tackles
•       Darrien Molton made his 48th career start, tying the WSU record for career starts (Micah Hannam, 2007-10, OL)
•       Marcus Strong recorded his 3rd INT of the season, added a sack, finished with 7 tackles
•       Misiona Aiolupotea-Pei recorded sack No. 2.5 of the season
