SAN FRANCISCO – Twelve Washington State football student-athletes earned Pac-12 Conference All-Academic accolades, the conference office announced Monday. The twelve selections are the most in program history.

To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and appear in at least 50 percent of their team's games.

Redshirt-senior nose tackle Taylor Comfort was named to the first team and three were named to the second team, redshirt-sophomore running back Clay Markoff, redshirt-senior defensive lineman Nick Begg, redshirt-junior defensive lineman Karson Block and graduate senior linebacker Peyton Pelluer. Seven received honorable mention; redshirt-junior wide receiver Brandon Arconado, redshirt-junior defensive lineman Tristan Brock, redshirt-sophomore kicker Jack Crane, redshirt-freshman linebacker Cole Dubots, redshirt-freshman kick returner Travell Harris, redshirt-sophomore offensive lineman Liam Ryan and redshirt-junior quarterback Trey Tinsley.

Comfort earns his second career all-academic honor after receiving honorable mention last season. The Sultan, Wash. native owns a 3.33 cumulative GPA while majoring in criminal justice and psychology. Comfort started all 12 games at nose tackle and recorded 21 tackles with four for loss including a pair of sacks along with one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.

Markoff earns his first career all-academic honor after posting a 3.76 cumulative GPA and has yet to declare a major. The Olympia, Wash. native appeared in nine games, mostly on special teams and recorded one carry for three yards.

Begg earns his second career all-academic honor after receiving honorable mention last season. The Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif. native earned his bachelor's degree in marketing last December and is currently working on a second degree in communications (3.20 GPA). Begg has appeared in all 12 games, made five starts and recorded nine tackles including 1.5 for loss.

Block earns his first career all-academic honor after posting a 3.21 cumulative GPA while majoring in social sciences. The Atascadero, Calif. native has appeared in 11 games and tallied 11 tackles with four for loss including one sack.

Pelluer earns his Pac-12 record fifth career all-academic honor after earning first-team honors as a freshman and second-team honors the past three seasons. Pelluer received a sixth year of eligibility after a foot injury ended his 2017 season. The Sammamish, Wash. native is working towards his master's degree in teaching and owns a 3.48 cumulative GPA. Pelluer started all 12 games and made a team-high 86 tackles along with nine tackles-for-loss including 3.5 sacks.

Arconado earns his second career all-academic honor after earning second-team honors last season. The Chino Hills, Calif. native owns a 3.2- cumulative GPA while majoring in management information systems. Arconado has appeared in eight games this season, all on special teams.

Brock earns his third career all-academic honor after earning honorable mention the past two seasons. The Mount Vernon, Wash. native owns a 3.05 cumulative GPA while majoring in construction management. Brock has appeared in all 12 games, mostly on special teams where he tallied three tackles and recovered one blocked punt for a touchdown.

Crane earns his first career all-academic honor after posting a 3.26 cumulative GPA while majoring in construction management. The Sammamish, Wash. native has appeared in all 12 games at the Cougars kickoff man, recording 37 touchbacks on 82 kickoffs.

Dubots earns his first career all-academic honor after posting a 3.02 cumulative GPA and has yet to declare a major. The Temecula, Calif. native has appeared in all 12 games, mostly on special teams, and has tallied eight tackles including two for loss and one forced fumble.

Harris earns his first career all-academic honor after posting a 3.29 cumulative GPA and has yet to declare a major. The Tampa, Fla. native has appeared in all 12 games, nine as a starter at the H wide receiver position where he recorded 26 receptions for 303 yards and one touchdown. Harris also averages 27.8 yards-per-return as the Cougars kickoff return man, sixth-best in the country.

Ryan earns his first career all-academic honor after posting a 3.00 cumulative GPA while majoring in criminal justice and criminology. The Chino Hills, Calif. native has started all 12 games at left guard for the nation's best passing offense.

Tinsley earns his second straight all-academic honor after earning honorable mention last season. The Lake Forest, Calif. native has appeared in all 12 games as the field goal and PAT holder and made two appearances at quarterback, towing for 63 yards including a touchdown.
