Nine Cougars Earn Pac-12 All-Academic Honorable Mention

The conference recognized student-athletes for their work both on and off the field.
SAN FRANCISCO – As the 2018 season heads into its final week, the Pac-12 Conference office announced the 2018 All-Academic team Wednesday afternoon with nine Cougars earning honorable mention honors. Earning the distinction for their work in the classroom were Brianna Alger, Elyse Bennett, Grace Hancock, Maddy Haro, Katie Jones, Maegan O'Neill, Alysha Overland, Sydney Pulver, and Rachel Thompson.
To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall GPA, have been at the institution for one-full year, and appear in at least 50 percent of their team's games.Â
In their final year of action, seniors Grace Hancock, Maddy Haro, and Maegan O'Neill all nabbed their third-consecutive all-academic honor, each earning the distinction in each season eligible for the award. In her first year eligible, Hancock (3.50 GPA - sport science) and Haro (3.57 GPA - journalism & media production) while O'Neill posted a 3.18 GPA in business management. Overland finished her career grabbing her first all-academic honor posting a 3.38 GPA in business management.
Nabbing her second-straight award, Jones posted a 3.49 GPA in psychology. Earning their first awards, Thompson leads the way with a 3.78 GPA in Human Development while Bennett was not far behind with a 3.76 GPA in biology. Undeclared in their major plan of study, both Alger (3.58 GPA) and Pulver (3.03 GPA) picked up their first career all-academic awards in their first year eligible.
