The Washington State swim team will travel to Houston, Texas to compete in the Phill
Hansel Invitational hosted by the University of Houston Nov. 16-18. Live results will be
posted on uhcougars.com and MeetMobile.
ABOUT THE OPPONENTS
Ten teams will join the Cougars in the pool including the University of Houston,
University of Nevada, Rice University, Air Force, Tulane University, Colorado State
University, University of New Mexico, Vanderbilt, University of Northern Colorado, and
University of Incarnate Word.
LAST TIME IN THE POOL
The Cougars had an outstanding performance against the University of Wyoming, but
ultimately fell to the Cowgirls 140-122. The team posted seven victories including 11
season-best times. Freshman
Keiana Fountaine continued to be a force in the pool,
earning two individual wins and swimming anchor in the first place 200 free relay team.
Fountaine also clocked a season-best 58.73 in the 100 fly for fifth place. Sophomore
Taylor McCoy had a strong showing for the Cougars, winning the 200 back and 200 IM.
The Pullman, Wash. native also posted a season-best 58.05 in the 100 back for fourth
place and swam the opening leg of the second place 200 medley relay team. Sophmore
in their respective events. Duarte dominated in the 200 breast, hitting a season-best
2:17.23 - nearly six seconds ahead of the second place finisher. Duarte also finished
second in the 100 breast and 200 IM. Falk took a win in the 500 free and placed second
in the 1000 free. Lindberg's win came in the 100 breast with a season-best 1:04.22.
Freshman
Emily Barrier made a splash against the Cowgirls, taking top-three finishes
in three individual events. The Fort Collins, Colo. native notched a season-best time
in the 200 free, touching in 1:52.79 for third. Barrier also place third in the 100 free and
second in the 50 free. Sophomore
Samantha Howell posted season-best times in the
1000 and 500 free touching in 10:30.63 and 5:08.68, respectively.
KEIANA FOUNTAINE MAKES A STRONG IMPACT
Freshman
Keiana Fountaine is having an outstanding rookie campaign, tied for a teamleading
nine wins, while also being a member of six winning relays. The Tracy, Calif.
native leads the team in three individual events. Fountaine clocked an impressive 24.02
in the 50 free in the first invite of the season, just a half of a second outside of the WSU
All-Time Top-10. The freshman is also ranked in the Top-25 in the Pac-12 in two events.
Fountaine's time of 51.08 in the 100 free ranks her tied for 16th, while a 1:49.27 in the
200 free ranks her sixth in the conference and seventh in the WSU All-Time Top-10.
PULLMAN NATIVE MAKING A SPLASH
Sophomore
Taylor McCoy continues to see success in the pool for the Cougars, tying
for a team-high nine individual wins. McCoy leads the team in four individual events:
100 and 200 back and 200 and 400 IM. The Pullman, Wash. native currently sits in the
WSU All-Time Top-10 in two events: 100 and 200 back. The sophomore backstroker
holds the ninth and third spot on WSU Top-10 in the 100 and 200 back, respectively.
McCoy is 10th in the Pac-12 in the 200 back, posting a season-best 2:01.58 against
Wyoming. McCoy is also 16th and 20th in the Pac-12 in the 200 and 400 IM, respectively
