Overtime Goal Downs No. 7 Soccer At Utah

After battling for 98 minutes the Cougs relinquished the game-winner to the Utes.

In Case You Missed It
SALT LAKE CITY – Throughout 98 minutes of action the No. 7 Washington State soccer team (10-2-0, 3-2-0) had its chances to secure the road win at Utah (6-6-1, 3-2-0), but one mistake in the first overtime of play proved to be the difference as the Utes pulled off the 1-0 upset of the Cougars Sunday afternoon at Ute Soccer Field. Facing a building attack late in the extra period, the Cougs lost sight of the Utah's Holly Daugirda inside the penalty area allowing the Ute midfielder a free look at goal that she would convert to end the game. Prior to the Ute strike, the Cougs had controlled the extra period with Makamae Gomera-Stevens putting one shot on target and another just wide. The sophomore midfielder led the Cougs in shots on the day with six including three on target as WSU outshot the Utes on the afternoon but could not find the back of the net for the first time in 2018.

Stat of the Match
WSU held a 9-8 shot advantage while also picking up a 5-2 advantage in corners.
