Cougars Capture Two 7-0 Victories over Montana

MISSOULA, Mont. - Washington State Cougar tennis continued its strong start to the season with its third and fourth sweep in dual-play, gaining two 7-0 victories against Montana on Friday at the Peak Racquet Club. The two wins against Montana, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, improve the WSU record to 4-0 in the season. In each of the matches, the Cougars captured two doubles matches to obtain the opening point. Each singles match followed suit, the six singles matches ended in a straight set victory for WSU in the morning and WSU claimed five straight-set victories in their second match of the day.

"I was impressed with our competitive spirit today. We executed well throughout the doubles and singles lineups.  We are excited about the test and opportunity Iowa will present on Sunday.  We can't thank Coach Ascher and Montana enough for their hospitality this weekend.  Everyone has been so nice to us and we appreciate it!   • Washington State improved to 36-4 all-time against Montana, including a 12-0 mark under head coach Lisa Hart.
  • Junior Tiffany Mylonas has a team-best 16-1 singles record, having won her last 14 matches.
  • Senior Barbora Michalkova and sophomore Guzal Yusupova have each won their last 10 matches, both the longest streaks of their careers.
  • Junior Aneta Miksovska is 14-3 on the season and 9-1 in her last 10 matches.
  • Sophomore Melisa Ates has won her last five singles matches while sophomore Ege Tomey picked up her first dual victory of the season.
  • Freshman Michaela Bayerlova improved to 9-0 in singles as a collegian.
  • As a team, WSU is 82-14 (.854) in singles matches this season.
