ABOUT THE MATCHUP
The Cougs have just one scheduled game for the weekend as WSU will host Cal State Northridge (CSUN) Friday night at Lower Soccer Field. The game is the final non-conference home game for WSU before hitting the road next weekend in the final tuneup before Pac-12 play begins. Facing the Matadors, the Cougs will take on an unknown opponent for the third-straight match as WSU has never faced CSUN on the field before. The Cougs are looking to remain flawless at home in 2017 having posted a 3-0-1 record in four games while outscoring their opponents 7-0.
LAST TIME OUT
The Cougs hosted the first Cougar Classic and finished with a perfect weekend upsetting #14 Nebraska (1-0) and routing Georgia Southern (5-0).
Morgan Weaver scored the game-winner against Nebraska for her first goal of the year. The win was the Cougs biggest since a 1-0 shutout of #13 Santa Clara one year prior. Freshmen powered the win over the Eagles with three freshmen scoring their first career goals while two others tallied their first assists.
ABOUT THE MATADORS
CSUNÂ enters the weekend having yet to taste defeat after posting a 2-0-4 record through six matches. Most recently, the Matadors earned a 0-0 draw at #25 Colorado. CSUN is led by Marissa Favela with three goals while Sylvia Trinh has added three assists. The Matadors have outscored their opponents 7-4 on the season as Jovani McCaskill has posted a 0.58 GAA in 621:30 minutes in goal. Five of the Matadors six matches have gone to overtime in 2017.
