Strong Finish Keeps Brown In Sight After Day Two Of The NCAA Regionals

A second round 73 kept the junior within reach of a qualifying spot.

LUBBOCK, Tex. - Hitting her stride down the stretch, junior Alivia Brown kept the qualifying line within sight after carding a +1, 73 for the second round of the NCAA Regionals in Lubbock Tuesday afternoon. With 36 holes in the book, Brown sits tied for 28th overall at five-over par after posting a 76 and 73 for her first two rounds of play.

Heading into the final round of action, the current qualifying line sits at even par as the top-three individuals in the tournament that are unattached from one of the top-six qualifying teams advance to the NCAA Finals.

In a similar fashion to her opening round of play Monday, Brown started her trip around the Rawls Course on rocky footing as the third-year Coug dropped five strokes over the first seven holes. Despite finding herself playing catch up, Brown settled in and found her game as she began to make the turn to the final nine holes of the day. She would get back one of her lost strokes just before hitting the front nine on the course with a birdie on the 18th before playing nearly flawless golf on the front-nine which led to three more birdies scattered amongst a handful of pars.

Arizona State's Monica Vaughn leads the tournament at -5, after firing off a 68 in round two to go with her 71 from Monday.

The final round of the regionals for Brown begins at 8:50 CDT from the first hole alongside of LSU's Caroline Nistrup and Boston College's Lois Kaye Go.
