THIS WEEK: The Washington State women's tennis team opens Pac-12 Conference play by hosting the University of Oregon, Sunday, March 12 at 10 a.m., at the Simmelink Tennis Courts at Hollingbery Fieldhouse. The Cougars enter the weekend with a 9-3 record, having won its last three matches. Oregon begins the week with a 6-5 record and will face Washington Friday before arriving in Pullman for Sunday's match.
WASHINGTON STATE/OREGON HISTORY: The Ducks hold a 40-36 edge in the all-time series, including a 5-2 victory last season in Eugene. The last time the teams met in Pullman, the Cougars 4-2 win to close out the 2014 season. WSU has won the last five times the teams have met in Pullman dating back to 2007.

UP NEXT: The Cougars waste no time in beginning their spring break trip as they travel to Las Vegas to face No. 11 Oklahoma State Monday (March 13) following by a Wednesday matchup at No. 46 UNLV (March 15). Both matches will be played at 10:30 a.m. PT.
WSU/OKLAHOMA STATE HISTORY: Monday's matchup will be the third in the series history, with the two schools splitting the first two meetings. Â Oklahoma State won the first meeting in 1995 while the Cougars captured a 5-2 win in 2004, Lisa Hart's first season as head coach.
LAST TIME OUT: The Cougars captured a pair of victories the weekend of Feb. 25-26 as they defeated Fresno State 4-3 and Idaho 5-2. Guzal Yusupova and Melisa Ates both picked up a pair of singles victories, with Ates clinching the win against Fresno State and Yusupova doing the same against Idaho.

FRESHMEN PLAYING BIG ROLE: WSU's freshman class has adjusted quickly to the college game. With four of WSU's seven players being freshmen, the young class is playing a key role in WSU's success this season. So far the group is on the right track, posting a combined 60-23 singles record, led by Melisa Ates' 20-5 mark.

ROSTER BREAKDOWN: For the 2017 season the Cougars will boast a lineup that features four freshmen, one senior, one junior and a sophomore. The returning roster includes senior Victoria Matejevic, junior Barbora Michalkova, sophomore Aneta Miksovska, and freshmen Melisa Ates, Lejla Colic, Ege Tomey and Guzal Yusupova.
COACH HART: Lisa Hart is in her 14th season as the head coach of Washington State. Hart has accumulated a 180-157 record, the win total being the most of any coach in WSU tennis history. In 2012, the Cougars went 19-7 as Hart was awarded the Pac-12 Conference Women's Tennis Coach of the Year award.
