... The Match In 140 Words Or Less
SEATTLE - On a frigid night in Seattle, 110 minutes proved to not be enough to decide a winner in the 2017 Apple Cup as the Cougs (9-7-3, 4-6-1) battled to a 0-0, double-overtime, draw with Washington (9-8-3, 2-6-3) Saturday night. Playing dead even throughout the night, the two teams battled to a standstill as neither side ceded an inch of ground. Early on, the Cougs arguably had the best scoring chance of the night when a pair of close up headers off a corner missed their mark as
Maegan O'Neill's attempt was blocked before
Grace Hancock's attempt sailed just high. In overtime, WSU saw its best chance come up empty when Elyse Bennet was dragged down from behind after beating her defender only to have the play continue and the dangerous situation vanish.
