The sophomore led the Cougs to the NCAA Sweet 16 in 2017.
Kansas City, MO - Capping off a stellar sophomore campaign, second-year forward Morgan Weaver was named to the 2017 United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division I Women's All-West Region Third Team. With the award, Weaver joined an elite list of players from across the country and in Washington State history. The award was the first of Weaver's career and first for WSU since four Cougs were named to the all-region teams in 2015.
The leader of the Cougs' offense, Weaver finished the regular season tied for the team lead in points with 14 while adding a team-best six goals. Making the most of her strikes, she finished second in the Pac-12 in game-winning goals with four, including the winner against No. 14 Nebraska in a 1-0 shutout on Sept. 1. Additionally, the second-year sensation added a pair of assists including the game-winning pass to Elyse Bennett at Oregon. Weaver would add to her lore in the NCAA tournament with her first career postseason goal when she scored the opening strike in what would be an epic 2-2 draw with No. 20 Tennessee in the NCAA Second Round. The Cougs would go on to advance to the third round on penalty kicks to earn their first-ever trip to the sweet 16. For her play, Weaver was also recognized with a spot on the All-Pac-12 Third Team.
For her career, Weaver has scored 15 goals including seven game-winners while tallying 33 points. Her 15 goals sits just outside of the Cougs' all-time top-10 after just two seasons.
