WSU Head Coach Jane LaRiviere on Head of the Lake: "It's great everytime you race through the Montlake Cut. There's plenty of Cougs over in Seattle, so it feels like a home course from the support we get from family, friends, and alum. As for the race, we are competing against Washington and Oregon State, so it will be our first time seeing Pac-12 competition this year, which will be a great test for us."
WSU Head Coach Jane LaRiviere on Team Expectations and Training: "We've been having really lovely summer conditions the last couple weeks down on the Snake River. The team has been motivated, which has created a fun atmosphere for us moving forward. This year we are vastly outnumbered with the youth on the team, as a result of our big recruiting class. So I still don't know what to expect, but the mood is good and they really want to work together so I see the team aspects coming along. It'll be how much we can get our act together before May, but they're doing their part by working really hard, embracing the changes, and learning from the upperclassmen."
Last Time on the Water: The Cougars delivered strong performances at the Head of the Spokane...the day's first flight featured a varsity eight, a second and third varsity eight, a varsity four, and two novice eights...the WSU varsity eight took first in the flight, completing the 5,000-meter course at 16:50...the second varsity eight placed third in the heat with their time at 17:20.
