LAHAINA, Hawaii – Sophomore Aneta Miksovska and freshman Lejla Colic each posted two victories for Washington State to highlight the second day of play at the Hawaii Spring Invitational at the Royal Lahaina Tennis Ranch on the island of Maui Friday.
 
The three-team non-scoring tournament, featuring host Hawaii, Washington State and Kansas, consists of singles and doubles matches each day. The day began with doubles play where the Cougar duo of Aneta Miksovska and Lejla Coli won for the second time in as many days. The pair posted a 6-2 victory over Hawaii's Michelle Pits and Alzbeta Houbova, the lone doubles win of the day for WSU.
 
WSU's Barbora Michalkova and Guzal Yusupova dropped a close, 6-4, decision to Hawaii's Petra Melounova and Roxanne Resma while Kansas' Tess Bernard-Feigenbaum and Nina Khmelnitckaia recorded a 6-2 win over Victoria Matejevic and Melisa Ates.
 
In singles action, WSU captured five of seven matches for the second-straight day against both Kansas and Hawaii opponents. Ege Tomey cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 win over Hawaii's Sophia Storch while Colic matched that score in a victory over Hawaii's Saga Shermis. Ates rebounded from doubles with a strong, 6-3, 6-3 win over Houbova and Miksovska made it two singles wins in two days as she defeated Pits, 6-3, 6-2. In the final match of the afternoon, Yusupova needed three sets against Khmelnitckaia, and closed out the match winning the final five games for the 6-2, 3-6, 6-2 victory.
 
After a close first set, Michalkova couldn't keep pace as she fell 7-5, 6-3 to Bernard-Feigenbaum and Hawaii's Roxanne Resma posted a 6-2, 6-2 win over Matejevic.
 
Play concludes Saturday at the Hawaii Spring Invitational with the final singles and doubles matches.
