ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The Washington State University women's golf team is in 15th place after shooting 13-over par through the first round of play at the 2016 Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational, Monday, at the Championship Golf Course.
Due to inclement weather, the tournament will resume the second round of play tomorrow morning, with the final round immediately following.
The Cougars carded 10 birdies through the first round. With a score of 301, WSU sits 27 strokes back from first place Oklahoma State (-14, 274) after the first round of play.
Sophomore
Madison Odiorne leads the Cougars, tied for 33rd. Odiorne, a native of Bend, Ore., birdied four times in total with a first round score of 2-under par (70).
After shooting 2-over par in the first round, junior
Bree Wanderscheid is tied for 57th. Junior
Alivia Brown shot 6-over par (78) in the first round, and is tied for 64th place.
Senior
Cherokee Kim shot 11-over par through the first round and is tied for 82nd place. Freshman
Elodie Bridenne, who is competing in her first tournament for the Cougars, is tied for 92nd place (+31).
