The Washington State soccer team will host No. 13 Santa Clara Thursday, Aug. 25, at Lower Soccer Field at 7 p.m. The match will be televised by the Pac-12 Network. The Cougars enter the contest with an 0-1-0 record while the Broncos are 2-0-0 through the field weekend of the season.
WASHINGTON STATE: LAST TIME OUT
Washington State dropped a 2-01, double-overtiem contest against No. 16 BYU. WSU scored first in the 29th minute, and had the run of play until the 77th minute when BYU drew the equalizer, off a deflected shot. BYU then sealed the game midway through the second overtime with a shot from inside the box.Â
WSU SETS ATTANDANCE RECORD AGAINST BYU
During last Friday's season-opener against No. 16 BYU, WSU drew a Lower Soccer Field record 2,623 fans for the match, eclipsing the previous mark of 2,251 set last season against Arizona.Â
WASHINGTON STATE-SANTA CLARA: THE SERIES
Washington State is 0-7-1 all-time against Santa Clara. In the last meeting No. 23 Santa Clara scored three second-half goals to come away with a 3-0 victory in Santa Clara, Calif. Â The last meeting in Pullman, 1997, Santa Clara posted a 3-0 win. The Broncos enter the match with a NO. 13 national ranking.

After hosting No. 13 Santa Clara Thursday, WSU travels to Spokane to face Gonzaga in a 6 p.m. matchup Sunday evening. The Bulldogs are off to 1-1 after splitting matches last weekend against Nevada (W) and Oregon (L). The Cougars are 23-0-1 all-time against Gonzaga, including a 3-0 victory in the last meeting, Sept. 12, 2015 in Pullman.Â
