June 09, 2016 | Swimming
Locke qualified for the U.S. Olympic Trials in the 200 Butterfly after posting a time of 2:14.86 in last weekend's Arena Pro Swim Series in Santa Clara, Calif. The senior-to-be from Santa Cruz, Calif. beat the qualifying mark of 2:14.99 and will head to the trials set for June 26-July 3 Omaha, Neb. This past season, Locke tallied seven individual wins, earned Pac-12 All-Academic honorable mention and capped the year at the Pac-12 Championships by posting the second-fastest 200 Butterfly time in school history.
Locke will join fellow Cougars Jasmine Margetts (also in the 200 Butterfly) and Presley Wetterstrom (200 Breaststroke) who also will be at the trials. The trials are the sole qualifier for swimmers hoping to earn a spot on the USA Swimming Olympic Team that will compete in the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics.
