PROVO, Utah – The Washington State men's golf team finished third at the PING Cougar Classic, Tuesday, at the Riverside Country Club.
After shooting 3-over par (291) in the final round, WSU (-6, 858) finished three strokes back of second-place finisher Wyoming (-6, 855). Tournament-host BYU finished first with a three-round total of 829 (-35).
“It was a great prep for the conference championship back here in Utah in two weeks,” WSU Head Coach Garrett Clegg said.
Four Cougars finished in the top 25, led by sophomore Zach Anderson, who tied for 14th. Anderson tied his career-best three-round versus par score, shooting 2-under par (214). The sophomore finished nine strokes behind tournament-champion Austin Christensen of BYU (-11, 205).
“Zach had a really good tournament, probably the best he's ever had, which was awesome,” Coach Clegg said. “He has been playing great at home all spring and finally was able to play well on the road.”
