SERIES HISTORY
The Cougars close out play at home for the non-conference slate with one against Boise State on Sunday. Boise State enters the weekend a perfect 6-0 on the season after winning on Thursday in a nail biter. WSU is 4-1 at home on the year with all four wins coming against the WCC. Boise State and WSU have a long history having played 36 times. Each team has won 18 times in the series with the Cougs winning last season, 57-52, on the road in Boise. Last time against the Broncos the Cougs were led by Pinelopi Pavlopoulou who scored a then career-high 12 points along with 18 points from Borislava Hristova. WSU had 11 blocks on the evening and 10 steals.
LAST TIME OUT
Behind a career-best 15 points from their junior point Pinelopi Pavlopoulou, the Washington State women's basketball team outpunched a tough San Diego squad, 83-73, at the Beasley Coliseum. In what proved to be a tight battle throughout the night it was clutch free throw shooting and lock down defense in the waning moments by the Cougars that proved to be the difference. After struggling from the line early, the Cougars found their stroke in the final minutes of the game, knocking down 11-of-14 from the line including hitting eight-straight to keep a surging Torero team at bay. In addition to Pavlopoulou, the Cougars put two others in double-figures with sophomore Borislava Hristova coming up with a team-best 19 points on 7-of-12 shooting while freshman Chanelle Molina chipped in 13 for her second-straight 10+ point effort.
ABOUT THE BRONCOS
Boise State is on a six-game winning streak to begin the year after taking down Eastern Washington, 67-64, on Thursday night. The win puts the Broncos at 6-0 to start the year, the first such start for Boise State since 2009-10, when the Broncos opened the campaign with seven-straight wins. The win was also the fourth in a row by five points or less for the Broncos. Boise State is led by Brooke Pahukoa who is averaging 15.5 points per game while Shalen Shaw is right behind at 11.3 ppg to go along with a team-best 7.7 rebounds per game.
