Dudley replaces Scott Thom who became head basketball coach at College of Marin.
PULLMAN, Wash. – Jason Dudley has been named Washington State University men's basketball strength and conditioning coach, head basketball coach Ernie Kent announced Thursday.
"Jason is a great fit for our men's basketball program," Kent said. "He not only has familiarity with the area and the school, being a WSU grad, but he also has the experience to help our guys make strides in the weight room. We were very fortunate to get someone of Jason's caliber at this time of the season."
Dudley comes to Pullman from Central Washington, where he served as the director of strength and conditioning since January of 2014, having started the school's first full-time strength and conditioning program. He replaces Scott Thom, who served as the team's strength coach since Kent's first season, 2014-15. Thom was named the head men's basketball coach at the College of Marin in Kentfield, Calif., in early October.
"I am very excited and honored to return to my alma mater and rejoin the proud tradition of Washington State University Athletics," Dudley said. The men's basketball program is on the rise and I am eager to contribute to the program in every way I can."
In addition to directing the strength and conditioning program and its growth at CWU, Dudley was the head strength coach for football, volleyball, soccer, men's basketball, women's basketball and men's rugby. He joined CWU after serving as the Head Tactical Strength and Conditioning (TSAC) Coach and Manager for the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).
Dudley, who had been at the NSCA since 2011, oversaw all aspects of strength and conditioning for Special Forces Military groups, the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) SWAT team, FBI Denver SWAT team members and individual Law Enforcement and Firefighter personnel. Dudley also oversaw all aspects of the NSCA's TSAC educational program. During his time at the NSAC Dudley was awarded the Citizens Award by the CSPD for his service with the Police Academy class, which recorded their greatest improvement in physical testing measures.
Dudley served as a member of the TSAC certification development committee, which developed the nationally recognized TSAC-F certification. He also wrote and implemented the first physical testing standard for the CSPD Bomb Squad. During his tenure with the NSCA Dudley presented at national and international strength and conditioning conferences for Military and Law Enforcement personnel.
Dudley also has experience in the NFL (Indianapolis Colts 2010-2011 season), the Big East Conference (University of Connecticut June-August 2009), NHL (Phoenix Coyotes prospect camp July 2009), as well as working individually with professional MMA fighters, Soccer players, USOC Judo players and Miss Washington 2009.
Dudley earned his master's degree in human movement and performance from Western Washington University in 2009 and a bachelor's degree in business administration and finance from Washington State University in 2003.
