Colorado started to heat up after the quick streak by the Cougars, answering a bucket from freshman forward Louise Brown with 11 straight points, hitting three from behind the arc during that run to build a 21-10 advantage. The Buffs' run later grew to 21-2 as the WSU shots started to rattle out, allowing CU to open its lead up to 31-12.

Colorado closed the half with an 8-1 run to take a 41-20 lead into the break. Washington State was held to 26 percent shooting in the first 20 minutes while the Buffaloes shot 41 percent, hit five 3-pointers and went 10-for-10 at the free throw line.

Washington State opened the second half with five straight points and later used an 11-2 run to cut the Colorado lead to 11 at the 10:32 mark. Edmondson sparked the run with a three from the left corner and Presley capped the steak with a pair of free throws.

Just as the Cougars made their run, the Buffaloes countered with six straight to regain a 53-36 lead at the 9:08 mark. WSU made one last push as Galdeira sank a three from the right wing to make it a 13-point game but the Buffaloes continued to answer and held on for the double-digit victory.
