Woodford Earns Pac-12 Freshman of the Week Honor

SAN FRANCISCO -- The Pac-12 Conference office announced the Pac-12 Volleyball Players of the Week for the week of Nov. 9-15 Monday, and Washington State's McKenna Woodford is the Freshman of the Week.

Woodford, a 6-4 outside hitter from Chandler, Ariz., led the Cougars in the 3-0 win over California Nov. 13. She tallied 14 kills, hit .305, had three assists, two aces, five digs and two blocks. Two days later against No. 6 Stanford, Woodford led the team with 15 kills and added three blocks. For the two matches she averaged 4.14 kills per set on .311 hitting, 1.57 digs per set, 0.71 blocks per set and 4.86 points per set.

In season statistics, Woodford's 3.27 kills per set and 3.78 points per set are both second-best on the team. Earlier this season, she was named the Most Valuable Player of the Texas Tech Lone Star Showdown after leading WSU to three-straight three-set wins over Northwestern State, Texas Tech and Portland State. Because of her accomplishments at the tournament, she was named the Pac-12 Freshman on the Week (Sept. 14-20).

This is the second Pac-12 Player of the Week award for the Cougars this season, and the sixth freshman of the week honor for Washington State all-time. This is also the 26th time a Cougar volleyball player has been selected for a conference player of the week honor.

WSU plays at Oregon and at Oregon State this week.
