Cougar Swimming Ranked No. 16 By CollegeSwimming.com

PULLMAN, Wash. – Washington State is No. 16 in the first rankings released by CollegeSwimming.com Tuesday.
The Cougars earned their highest ranking in school history after claiming four races in the season-opening dual meet against Stanford Sept. 25. CollegeSwimming.com assigns points to a school for its top-27 swims during at three-week period. Washington State is one of six teams ranked and ranked above Stanford (17), Arizona State (22) and Utah (23).
The Cougars received a pair of wins from freshman Jasmine Margetts in the 100 backstroke and the 400 IM, along with a win from senior Presley Wetterstrom in the 200 breastroke and WSU later closed the day with a win in the 400 freestyle relay over the Cardinal, the NCAA runner-up last season. Washington State also produced four school top-10 marks. Margetts led all swimmers with 22 points on the day and Wetterstrom tallied the fourth-most points, 14.
Washington State returns to Gibb pool in this week hosting defending national champion and No. 3 -ranked Univeristy of California Friday at 5 p.m. and Saturday at 10 a.m.
