Box Score PULLMAN, Wash. – Natasha Howe scored in the 108th minute lifted visiting Seattle to a 2-1 victory over No. 23 Washington State in the 2014 NCAA Division I Women's Soccer Championship First Round at Lower Soccer Field, Friday.
Howe's goal provided Seattle with its first Division I postseason victory. Last year, the Redhawks (15-4-2) made their first trip to the NCAA Division I Championship and dropped a 2-0 decision to Portland in the first round.
The Cougars (10-5-4) saw their season end in the first round for the third-straight year in a match that extended beyond regulation. Each of the last two seasons, Washington State was eliminated on penalty kicks in its postseason opener.
“I'm so proud of what we accomplished this season,” Cougar Head Coach Steve Nugent said. “Our group of seniors had their third coach in four years and provided tremendous leadership. The standard at Washington State is to be an NCAA Tournament team.”
The Redhawks to a 1-0 lead in the 33rd minute on Stephanie Verdoia's 22nd goal of the season. Verdoia dribbled past a defender and beat Cougar goalkeeper Gurveen Clair from eight yards out.

Beau Bremer sent a cross to the far post from the right side and Mariah Powers put her foot on it for the equalizer. It was the second goal of the season for Powers and the team-leading 10th point of 2014 for Bremer.
