When asked about the varsity eight, head Coach Jane LaRiviere said, "It was good to get out and race. There were a few internal issues today, but we learned a lot and we're excited to get back at it tomorrow. I'm happy with the rest of the team's performances. The second varsity eight boat and the fours had fantastic races. The novices also did a great job."

Washington State launched its varsity fours in the second flight of the day as well. Boat A finished in 18:30 followed by boat B (19:07) and boat C (19:23).
