Vita Scaglione is in her third year as head coach of the Washington State novice team.

Last season, Scaglione led the novice eight to its second consecutive victory at the San Diego Crew Classic. Scaglione also coached the novice eight squad to victories against Oregon State and Gonzaga. In addition, she led the second novice eight to triumphs against Oregon State and Gonzaga.

In her first season at WSU, Scaglione led the novice eight squad to victories in its first six regattas, which included a first place finish at the women's novice Grand Final at the San Diego Crew Classic, earning the squad the Sea World San Diego Trophy. In addition, Scaglione led the novice eight to a second place finish at the Pac-10 Championships.

Scaglione arrived at the Palouse after serving as assistant coach for the University of Michigan women's rowing novice squad for the past two years. Scaglione coached for three years at Michigan's Nike Rowing Camp, and spent one summer as an assistant coach at the U.S. Rowing Development Camp. Also, she has served on the CRCA (Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association) awards committee the past two years.

Scaglione, who earned a bachelor's degree in biology from Michigan in 1999, was a three-year member of the Wolverine women's varsity rowing team, including one year as a captain. In 1999, she achieved third place in the NCAA National Championships as a rower in the second varsity boat.
