Bruin Wave Final Results

TARZANA, Calif. - The Washington State women's golf team climbed two spots on the leaderboard in the final round of the Bruin Wave Invitational, finishing in eighth place at 80-over par. The Cougar women carded a team 309 which was the fifth-best score of any team in the final 18 holes.

Washington State junior Emma Betland tied Kent's first round score of 74 which remained the best mark for the Cougar women in the tournament. Betland's 2-over put her four strokes behind Kent in the final tournament standings (+19) and tied for 33rd place.

The WSU women finished ahead of No. 31 Denver (tied for 10th) and No. 40 UNLV (tied for 10th). The Cougars' team score in the final round was their best of the tournament after shooting scores of 312 and 323 in the first two rounds, respectively.

It was the number one team in the nation, USC, that was crowned champion of the Bruin Wave Invitational. The USC women carded a 293 Tuesday, which was the best final-round score by any team. They finished 20-over with just a two-stroke advantage over runner-up UCLA (+22). The individual tournament title was won by USC's Annie Park, who was the only player to finish under par (-1).

The Washington State women will next travel to Kanoehe, Hawaii, to compete in the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational on March 12-13.
