PULLMAN, Wash. -

The Cougars had difficulties getting anything going Sunday afternoon as they fall, 7-0, to No. 21 Arizona State.

With the loss, the Cougars move to 12-9 on the season and 1-5 in conference play. Arizona State improves to 15-1 and 5-0 in Pac-12 play.

The day began with doubles. At No. 1, the Cougar duo of Liudmila Vasilieva and Andjela Kankaras and Olga Musilovich did not finish their match against Ebony Panaho and Joanna Smith at No. 2, ending at 7-2 in favor of Arizona State.

The Cougars fared no better in singles action. At No. 2 singles, Googe fell 6-1, 6-0 to the No. 106 player in Krawczyk. Vasilieva had her work cut out for her at No. 1, facing the No. 23 player in the nation. After holding a 3-1 lead in the second set, she was not able to capitalize and fell 6-1, 6-3, to Cako. Kankaras ran into similar problems in her match at No. 4, falling to Hannah James, 6-3, 6-1.

At No. 6, Koning pushed Joanna Smith to a first-set tiebreaker before falling 7-6 (7-4), 6-0. Musilovich was in a constant battle with her opponent at No. 5. After splitting the first two sets, the match was forced into a third set. Musilovich could not break away though, falling to Panaho 6-3, 3-6, 6-3. Luzina wrapped up play for the Cougars at No. 3. The match was pushed to a third set tiebreak since the team match had already been decided. Luzina could not gain any momentum though, falling to Sahagun 4-6, 7-6 (7-3), 1-0 (10-1).

Prior to the match, the team recognized four seniors, Vasilieva, Googe, Kankaras, and Erin Troedson, playing their final home match.

The Cougars are next in action April 5 when they travel to Colorado.
