PULLMAN, Wash. - Elizaveta Luzina provided Washington State with its lone point of the afternoon as the Cougars fell to Arizona, 6-1, Friday at the WSU Outdoor Tennis Courts.

The loss puts the Cougars at 12-8 on the season and a 1-5 record in Pac-12 Conference play. The Wildcats improve to 9-8 and a 1-3 record in the conference.

Luzina held a comfortable lead throughout her match at No. 3 singles, defeating Laura Oldham 6-3, 6-2 for the only Cougar highlight. With the win, Luzina improves to 13-6 in dual matches this season. After winning the first set, Olga Musilovich was pushed to a third set tiebreaker in her match at No. 5. Musilovich was unable to close out the match, falling to Shayne Austin, 2-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-4).

At No. 1, Liudmila Vasilieva fell to No. 64 Lacey Smyth, 6-0, 6-1. Ksenia Googe had similar results at No. 2, falling to Kim Stubbe 6-1, 6-0. At No. 4, Andjela Kankaras couldn't get it going in her favor, falling to Akilah James, 6-3, 6-2. Charlotte Koning fell to Susan Mc Rann 6-1, 6-3 at No. 6.

In doubles action, the Cougars took the first match after the pairing of Vasilieva and Googe defeated Smyth and Austin, 8-5, at No. 1. At No. 2, the Cougar duo of Kankaras and Musilovich fell to Arizona's James and Stubbe, 8-5. Luzina and Koning finished their match in similar fashion, falling 8-5 to Mc Rann and Oldham.

The Cougars wrap up weekend and home play Sunday morning when they take on No. 21 Arizona State. It will be Senior Day, as the Cougars will honor their four seniors in a ceremony beginning at 10:45.
