PULLMAN, Wash. - Washington State swimming brings their regular season to a close with a loss to Pac-12 opponent Utah, 157-105. The Cougars finish with an even 6-6 record for the season.
Some Cougar highlights included Nicole Proulx winning the 200 free with a time of 1:52.96 and finishing second in the 100 free (51.93). Junior Emma Johansson was another first place finisher for the Cougs winning the 100 fly (55.84). Freshman Loree Olson took first place in the 200 back (2:04.18) just ahead of teammate Kelly Tannhauser who finished second in the same event (2:07.04).
WSU fielded a pair of strong relays for the 200 medley relay and 400 free relay that both finished second. The 200 medley relay comprised of Johansson, Shanell Sullenberger, Alison Mand and Evelina Bieleckaite clocked a time of 1:44.96. Proulx, Johansson, Bieleckaite, and Jenna Bekker combined forces for the 400 free relay that finished with a time of 3:30.52.
Utah had a solid meet that included two new Gibb Pool records as well as an NCAA `B' standard time. The Utah `A' relay that finished first in the 400 free relay set the new record at 3:26.59. Utah swimmer Traycie Swartz achieved both an NCAA `B' cut time and Gibb Pool record finishing first in the 100 back with a time of 54.99.
Pac-12 Championships are next up for the Cougars which will be held in Federal Way, Wash. Feb. 27-Mar. 2.
