PULLMAN, Wash. - Washington State swimming started out strong and never looked back in a commanding win over Idaho, 156-106, Friday. The win keeps the Cougars undefeated at home this year and marks the seventh win in a row over Idaho at home since 1985.
The Cougars started the night out strong with a victory in the 200 medley relay. The relay comprised of Emma Johansson, Shanell Sullenberger, Alison Mand, and Evelina Bieleckaite finished with a time of 1:45.32, over a second in front of the Idaho `A' relay.
Freshman Loree Olson led the Cougars in scoring for the night contributing 22 points to the team total. Olson claimed first place in the 1000 free (10:33.54) and 200 backstroke (2:03.40). Johansson had a solid performance as well with wins in the 100 back (56.24) and 100 fly (56.15).
Other first place finishers for WSU included Haley Anderson in the 500 free (5:12.65), Bieleckaite in the 50 free (24.08), and Presley Wetterstrom in the 200 breast (2:21.12).
WSU travels to take on Cal State Bakersfield next Saturday Feb. 9, 2013 at 11 a.m.
