Cougars Defeat Rebels in Rainbow Wahine Classic

HONOLULU – Three Cougars scored in double figures as the Washington State University women's basketball team defeated the Ole Miss Rebels, 79-65, at Stan Sheriff Center to conclude the Bank of Hawaii Rainbow Wahine Classic Sunday.

Junior Tia Presley scored a career-high 29 points to lead the Cougars (2-3). Presley pulled in four rebounds and four assists in 26 minutes of play. Sophomore Lia Galdeira added 14 points and team-high eight rebounds, while senior Sage Romberg notched 14 points.

The Cougars opened the game on a 17-9 run and never looked back. Presley and Romberg combined for 19 of WSU's first 26 points. Led by Presley's 22 first half points, the Cougars cruised to a 41-30 half time lead. Following the break, Galdeira took control of the game, scoring 10 second-half points, while recording five steals in the game.

All 11 Cougar players scored in the game and WSU outscored Ole Miss 48-34 in the paint. The Cougars shot .440 (33-of-75) from the floor, while forcing 17 turnovers.

The Cougars return to Pullman and will face Fresno State Friday, Nov. 22 at 7 p.m.
