CORVALLIS, Ore. - The Washington State women's golf team finished the first two rounds of the Oregon State Invitational in second place out of 16 competing teams Monday. The team carded a score of 15-over par.
The Cougar women concluded the first 18 holes at 2-over par as a team, just five strokes behind first-place Washington. WSU freshman Rachel Lewis, making her collegiate debut, finished the first round even. Lewis finished the day at 9-over par.
The women's team fell short only to Washington in the first day of the Invitational, finished at 11-under par. Washington State did put themselves three spots ahead of Pac-12 opponent and host school Oregon State on the team leaderboard.
The WSU women were led by sophomore Lindsay Harmon. Harmon shot a team-best score of 70 in the first round of 18 holes, and followed it with a 73 on the second round. Her combined effort left Harmon tied for third place in the 89-athlete field and 1-under par after the first two rounds of the tournament. SooBin Kim of Washington finished atop the player leaderboard two strokes ahead of Harmon.
